Prince Harry’s return to the U.K. was supposed to offer a fresh start after years of tension with the royal family. But royal journalist Charlotte Griffiths believes the Duke of Sussex is repeating the same pattern that undermined his first attempt at a reset in the United States.
Journalist claims Prince Harry has ‘missed out on two fresh starts’ for a reason
Journalist Charlotte Griffiths told The Royalist podcast that Harry’s current attempt at a reset in Britain resembles his earlier move to the United States. According to Griffiths, the Duke failed to make the most of that first fresh start because he continued dwelling on past grievances.
“What happened was he went to the States to have a fresh start and start all over again, and then didn’t. He just dwelled in the past,” said the reporter. “And now he’s come back to have another fresh start, and he’s still dwelling in the past. So he’s missed out on two fresh starts.”
According to the source, Griffiths had previously reported that people close to the 41-year-old duke say he still expects an apology from the royal family. His frustration has not cooled much since 2020. One source told her that friends anticipated humility from Harry. Instead, they found him still operating in what they called an “angry mindset.”
Harry and Meghan Markle have relocated to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet. The family settled into a private home reportedly in the Cotswolds so the kids could start British schooling. Sources close to King Charles previously indicated the move was quietly welcomed by the king. Calling it a strategic step toward mending the family rift, it gave hope.
Even so, Griffiths noted that Harry was reportedly caught off guard by renewed confirmation that he and Meghan remain non-working royals in the letter issued by the King. She added that the approaching anniversary of Princess Diana’s death may be deepening his frustration in the months ahead. There have been no comments from the representatives of the Sussexes following King Charles’ letter of guidance.
