Donald Trump Has Brutal 2 Words for Kaitlan Collins Over Midterm Claims

President Donald Trump is once again sparring with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on social media. He branded her Monday night panel “FICTION AND LIES.” He posted his complaint on Truth Social Tuesday, reigniting a feud with the anchor that has simmered for months.

Trump used the post to go after Collins by name, writing: “Very dumb and unhappy Fake News CNN ‘reporter,’ Kaitlan Collins (really low ratings, also!), had a panel where discussions were all FICTION AND LIES.”

The president then went on to predict the network’s decline, adding: “You would think that CNN, which is suffering terribly in the TV Ratings, would get rid of their 3rd rate ‘anchors,’ and try to bring credibility back to their once storied network. It is fading FAST!”

CNN defended its anchor soon after. A network spokesperson told TheWrap that Collins is “an exceptional journalist,” pointing to her daily reporting “from the White House and the field with real depth and tenacity.”

The dispute traces back to Collins’ broadcast the night before, where her panel dug into how the administration is handling voter frustration over living costs. Collins set up the segment with a clip of Trump insisting the economy is performing at record highs, then countered it with a Reuters/Ipsos survey showing 71% of Americans disapprove of his economic stewardship (via The Daily Beast).

CNN Political Director David Chalian used the segment to argue that presidential messaging matters less than lived experience, telling viewers that people ultimately vote based on their own finances rather than official talking points. Democratic strategist Paul Begala went further, warning that inflation tends to be politically fatal, invoking the fates of past presidents who struggled with it.

Additonally, Collins isn’t the only journalist Donald Trump has gone after recently. He also posted a separate jab at New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman the same day, dismissing her insight into his presidency.

The pattern extends back well over a year. Trump has clashed publicly with several female reporters and anchors, including Kristen Holmes, Kristen Welker, Catherine Lucey, Jessica Tarlov and Shannon Bream.
