Jax Taylor’s lawyer claims Brittany Cartwright is trying to push him to his breaking point as their legal battle continues. She is reportedly doing so in hopes that her estranged husband will “stray” from his sobriety.
Jax’s attorney alleges Brittany is using their legal battle to pressure him
Jax’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ that Brittany had sought to limit his custody rights through her restraining order request. The court, however, had denied all of her requests. He pointed out that Brittany had not sought to limit Jax’s custody at any time over the past year. He claimed her sudden concerns had been driven by fabricated emergencies, not facts.
Kaplan said Brittany had been aware that both of them were preparing to go to court, based on communication between their attorneys. He claimed she had therefore rushed to file what he described as a fabricated emergency. The lawyer said Jax had remained sober and passed every drug test since completing rehab. He alleged that Brittany had tried to “beat him down” and jeopardize his sobriety, but said she would not succeed.
Jax has filed a petition seeking a restraining order against Brittany. He has asked a judge to order his ex to stay 100 yards away from him and prevent her from contacting him. He also wants the order to stop her from interfering with his business opportunities.
He claims Brittany spread malicious lies about him online. He also alleges that she contacted potential employers and business partners and threatened to publicly criticize them if they hired him. Jax said her actions cost him a role on the Fox television series Special Forces. He said the role would have paid him $175,000 and served as his comeback project.
Jax and Brittany met in Las Vegas in 2015. They married in 2019 and welcomed their son, Cruz, two years later. The couple filed for divorce in 2024 and finalized a custody agreement for their 5-year-old son in March.
The actor ultimately pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery. The court handed him a six-month suspended sentence and two years of probation. His probation terms include alcohol-abuse treatment and anger-management classes.
