Officials said Dolly Parton’s star had already been scheduled for repairs because of existing cracks. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the memorial items left by fans were cleared to allow restoration work to begin. However, the star was allegedly vandalized after the area was cleared. The damage appeared to include deep scratches across Parton’s name, adding to the repairs already planned.

According to ABC News, a visitor named Lore Corona shared a video on social media showing the damaged star. She said she and her daughters had planned to leave flowers but arrived shortly after the alleged incident. In the video, Corona said someone had damaged the tribute only minutes before they reached the site. She expressed disbelief over the incident while showing the scratches across Parton’s name.

According to Corona, a custodian at the location told her a woman had kicked over candles left as part of the memorial. The employee also claimed the person used broken glass from one of the candles to scratch the star.

Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed that restoration work had already been planned before the reported vandalism. She said the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the Walk of Fame, had included Parton’s star on its repair schedule because of previous cracks.

Parton’s star became a gathering place for mourners after her death at age 80. Fans left flowers, cards, candles, and other tributes in remembrance of the singer. These offerings turned the landmark into a memorial honoring her decades-long career and lasting impact on country music.
