Parton had faced ongoing health issues before her death. Those issues led her to cancel appearances and shows in May and postpone a Las Vegas residency planned for September. Jamie Lee Curtis shared an emotional tribute on Instagram. She remembered Dolly Parton as a brave woman who knew when to move on and embrace new opportunities. She wrote that Parton was “a great example for us all” and said her song “I Will Always Love You” showed that strength.
Pedro Pascal called Parton “one of one” and added, “we must make more.” Keke Palmer wrote, “I’m devastated” on Instagram. Octavia Spencer called Parton “a gift to the world” and praised her voice, philanthropy and warmth. Colman Domingo also honored Parton, saying she taught people to do anything with kindness.
Other stars also paid tribute to Parton following her passing. Lily Tomlin, Bette Midler, Patton Oswalt, Andy Cohen, Dionne Warwick and Kristin Chenoweth remembered the singer. The Muppets and the Jackson 5 social media accounts also posted messages.
Kacey Musgraves posted a broken heart emoji and wrote, “This really hurts.” Boy George said he could not believe the world had lost Parton and added, “I loved Dolly.” Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash also shared a tribute, while Maren Morris wrote, “there will never be another.” Henry Winkler called Parton “a treasure on this earth.”
Parton continued to connect with younger artists through recent music projects. She appeared on Beyoncé’s “Tyrant” from Cowboy Carter and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” from Man’s Best Friend. Journalist Megyn Kelly also remembered Parton as being close to “total goodness.” Kelly said Parton brought people together through their love and admiration for her.
