Teen Threatens Supermarket Customers With Fake Gun and Learns His Lesson The Hard Way

It’s not a good idea to walk into a supermarket and start threatening shoppers with what looks to be a real gun. But that’s what one teenager in Washington decided to do, which led police to surround him at the store’s entrance. He then made yet another bad decision by trying to run away and immediately faced the consequences.

Juvenile gets tased after running away from police

On August 8 at around 12:56 a.m., deputies responded to multiple reports of a juvenile at a WinCo threatening customers with what appeared to be a handgun, according to a video posted by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.

Bodycam footage shows the police not taking any chances, as five deputies waited at the supermarket’s exit for the suspect to leave the store. One deputy with his gun drawn orders the teenager and a bystander to put their hands on their head multiple times. The bystander does so immediately, but the suspect ignores the commands and decides to dash away.

The teenager’s escape lasted eight seconds. A deputy swiftly caught up with him and deployed a taser, causing the suspect to collapse onto the ground next to a line of shopping carts.

Deputies then surround the juvenile to arrest him, as the bag he held containing the fake gun slid across the pavement. Only after getting caught does he try to comply with police, though that’s hard when about a thousand volts of electricity is coursing through his body.

Police later learned that the fake firearm was an airsoft or BB gun that was made to look look like a Glock. The teenager was charged with brandishing and resisting arrest.

Commenters praised the swift actions of the police and showed little pity to the suspect. One wrote, “He screamed like a little girl after getting that Edison Medicine! Nice job deputies!” Another said, “Awesome job Deputies! He got to ride the lightning.”
