It’s not a good idea to open another person’s luxury car when several officers are right next to you, but that’s what one man in Florida tried to do. Richard James Scott was caught on video attempting to enter a Rolls-Royce with the driver still inside and got tased by Miami police. Before being arrested, the man had tried to use a fake credit card at an Italian restaurant nearby and refused to leave for nearly two hours.
Man had a two-hour altercation with police at an Italian restaurant
On August 8, Scott was tased after trying to enter an orange Rolls-Royce while the female driver was still in the car, as filmed by Instagram user @south_beachforever. The video shows two officers pulling the man’s hands behind his back before arresting him.
Earlier, police had responded to a call concerning Scott after he had entered Primo’s Italian Restaurant on North Bayshore Drive. One of the restaurant’s managers, Ugo Patierno, says he tried to order drinks using a fake credit card, as reported by Local 10.
When the credit card didn’t work, the customer told the restaurant to charge the drinks to his hotel room at the nearby Doubletree by Hilton Grand Hotel. But when Scott gave his room number, supposedly 666, Patierno knew that it was suspicious.
“He said, ‘I’m the son of God. So this is my room, you can charge on my room,'” Patierno recalled. “I laughed the first time.”
This then led to a shouting match between Scott and the restaurant staff.
“It was a bad time for our people, for my employee, especially for the customers,” the manager said.
When he refused to leave the premises, the police were called. Patierno hoped that the matter would be settled promptly, but it instead led to a two-hour altercation between Scott and the police before he finally walked out of the restaurant.
That’s when he tried to open the door to the luxury car and faced the consequences.
Scott was taken to jail and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. A judge set his bond at $650 on Sunday. He has been ordered to stay clear of the hotel and restaurant.
