Gal Gadot’s upcoming action thriller The Runner arrives on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2026.
Kevin Macdonald directs the film, which Mark Gibson wrote. Additionally, Amazon MGM Studios distributes the project through its streaming platform. David Kosse produces the film through his Rockwood Pictures banner. The British production runs 84 minutes in total length.
The film follows a successful London-based attorney whose son gets abducted. Consequently, she must obey cryptic commands from a mysterious caller throughout the chase. The attorney races against time through the city to save her child. Meanwhile, a web of secrets and threats surrounds her desperate mission. The tense premise places Gadot in a psychological thriller setting across London’s streets.
Gadot stars as Maia Marten, the attorney at the center of the story. On the other hand, Damian Lewis plays the enigmatic Caller who controls her movements. Alfred Enoch also joins the cast in an undisclosed role. Furthermore, Kenton Lloyd Morgan and Rory Wilmot round out the ensemble. Wilmot portrays Noah Marten, presumably the abducted son in the film.
Amazon MGM Studios first began developing the project in November 2024. Initially, the studio attached Macdonald as director and Gadot as the lead star. Principal photography then started on April 22, 2025, in London. The production subsequently wrapped filming around early July 2025. Anthony Dod Mantle serves as cinematographer on the project. In addition, Tom Hodge composes the musical score for the thriller.
Notably, Macdonald brings extensive experience to the director’s chair for this project. His previous credits include The Last King of Scotland and The Mauritanian. He has also directed acclaimed documentaries like Touching the Void and Whitney. The Runner marks his first feature film since The Mauritanian in 2021. The film received its MPA rating in February 2026. Finally, a trailer dropped in July 2026, building anticipation ahead of the September premiere.
