Gelato Messina To Open In Newtown

That’s right people, the heavyweight gelato kings of Sydney’s eastern suburbs Gelato Messina are finally setting up shop in the inner west, with the gelato chain announcing they will be taking over the site of Gelatomassi at 262 King St Newtown in August.

Writing on Messina’s website Gelatomassi owner SalvatoreLa Rose wrote a short statement about the take over:

“The conversation with Nick [Palumbo] and the Messina guys taking over our site started about a year ago. Until now the time wasn’t quite right for us or them. I’m pleased to say its now a reality,” he wrote.

“We’ve known Nick for well over 10 years and we can’t think of a better operator to take over from where Massi has left off.”

Having already conquered the eastern suburbs and inner city, this will be the chain’s first move into the inner west. It’s understandable they’ve held off on the move until now though, considering the stiff competition in the area with Cow and the Moon, winners of the World’s Best Gelato, having their shop just across the way in Enmore.

No word yet on whether there will be any inner west themed gelato on offer to mark the special occasion, but stay tuned. Crave Online will be following this story very closely.

In the meantime check out this beast of a creation they made to commemorate the end of season 7 of Game Of Thrones.

Gelato Messina Newtown will open at 262 King Street, Newtown in August.
