iPhone 6 “#Bendgate” Leads to the Device Being Put Under a “Bend Test”

Since it was revealed yesterday that some iPhone 6 Plus users had found that their new devices would bend out of shape in their pockets, “#bendgate” has started to sweep the internet and pose a threat to consumers’ opinions of the new smartphone’s design.

YouTube user UnboxTherapy has therefore decided to put the hardware under a “bend test,” showing viewers how the iPhone 6 Plus holds up to pressure put on it. Check out the iPhone 6 Plus bend test below:

The orchestrator of the “bend test” puts a large amount of pressure on the back of the aluminium device, which alters its shape considerably. Obviously, this sort of pressure is unlikely to be applied whilst the device is sitting in your pocket, so unless you plan on attempting to fold your iPhone 6 Plus, you don’t have much to worry about.

With that being said, he does reveal what his iPhone 6 Plus looked like before the test, and it also appears to be slightly misshapen. The weak point of the device seems to be around the side-buttons, and while it’s not exactly devastating to its design, it will still likely annoy early iPhone 6 adopters nonetheless.
