Microsoft Appoints New Head of Xbox Brand

When Don Mattrick ditched Microsoft for greener pastures at Zynga, its Xbox division was left leaderless. A new challenger has entered the room.

Julie Larson-Green has taken over as head of Microsoft’s Xbox division. She will be responsible for not only games but “music, video, and other entertainment”. As such, a Devices and Studios Engineering Group has been formed at Microsoft as part of the restructuring which was rumored days ago.

One point of contention with the move is Larson-Green previously worked in the Windows division, and has no prior experience in gaming.

What this all means for Xbox is yet to be determined, but previous head Mattrick was never received well by gamers. At least Larson-Green has a clean slate to work from. Watch her try to prove everyone wrong.
