Star Wars: The Force Awakens Actor Responds to Racist Critics

Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega has responded to critics who, for reasons that can only be described as “incredibly racist,” didn’t appreciate the fact that there’s a black stormtrooper in the upcoming hugely anticipated sci-fi film.

Following the trailer reveal, the actor wrote in a post on Instagram: “Thank you for all the love and support! The fan mail and fan art has added to my joy! Isn’t it crazy that Star Wars is actually happening? I’m in the movie but as a Star Wars fan I am very excited.”

He then continued, in what was clearly a reference to his racist critics: “To whom it may concern… Get used to it. :)”

However, alongside those who dislike Boyega being a part of the film simply because seeing a black person garner a significant role in their favorite film franchise makes them cry salty racist tears, there are some who are confused by the whole thing due to them believing that the Imperial Army is entirely made up of clones. However, that is not true, as following the events of the prequels the Empire recruited many soldiers from the general population, which is noted in the original trilogy. Simply put, there is absolutely no reason why a black person shouldn’t be a stormtrooper, and if you think otherwise then, yes, you’re a racist.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will take place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, with original cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all set to reprise their roles in the film. It will also see the Star Wars Expanded Universe, which includes books, comics and video games, being completely reset and nullified in order to make way for the new plot that director JJ Abrams is devising.
