Spirit Halloween Store Film in the Works in Attempt to Fill Large Vacant Space in Our Hearts

If there’s something that Hollywood undoubtedly loves, it’s a sure thing. And if studio executives are good at one thing, it’s figuring out how to turn literally anything into a movie. It wasn’t enough to turn video games (Minecraft), board games (Dungeons & Dragons), toys (Barbie), and whatever the hell Play-Doh is going to be into upcoming movies, now they had to go and turn an entire retail store into a movie. But not just any store, Spirit Halloween, the Halloween store to end all Halloween stores.

That’s right, a movie based on Spirit Halloween is not only in the works but is due to come out this year. The family-friendly comedy, which is uninspiringly called Spirit Halloween, will star Christopher Lloyd and Rachel Leigh Cook, along with a few newcomers. Ironically, the plot of the film will stay true to what Spirit is known for – occupying vacant spaces, including all of the movie theaters that this movie won’t play in.

Here’s the synopsis: “When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.”

As you can probably guess, the Spirit Halloween movie is either going to be absolutely terrible (see Goosebumps) or something totally brilliant (see The Lego Movie). At the very least, Spirit Halloween will hopefully attempt to fill the large vacant space in our hearts when it arrives this fall.
