Christina Applegate Delivers an Important Message to the MS Community Following Misdiagnosis

Despite not having the disease, Christina Applegate will continue to support the MS community. Following her multiple sclerosis misdiagnosis, Applegate recently shared a strong message for those suffering from MS.

In her latest episode of MeSsy on October 27, 2026, the 54-year-old stated, “I am still your warrior. I’m still going to speak out on your behalf forever and ever. I still feel like part of this community and no matter what I love you.” She made it clear that she is still very much emotionally bound to the MS community.

Elaborating about her confusing misdiagnosis, Applegate reflected, “On the daily, I don’t even understand what the heck’s going on, so I’m sure that news coming to people, that’s an adjustment.”

The American actress also tried to raise awareness and simplify how a misdiagnosis might take place despite not having multiple sclerosis. In a previous episode, she hosted Dr. Marwa Kaisey, an associate professor in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Department of Neurology, to discuss the matter.

What did Christina Applegate previously say about her MS misdiagnosis?

It was back in 2021 when Christina Applegate shared that she had been diagnosed with MS. Following this announcement, the 54-year-old even bid farewell to her acting career. In a recent episode of MeSsy, she made a comeback after seven long months and revealed that she had been wrongly diagnosed.

“This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one. It’s hard to say that [my doctor] came into my room and she said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS'”, said Applegate. “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better … If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways. So I’m back at square one, that I don’t know what’s going on with me,” she further added, per Variety.

Applegate shared how the fact that she was misdiagnosed has forced her into depression. She shared how she has faced every single symptom that one might face because of multiple sclerosis. Voicing her frustration, she added, “It’s this weird feeling because I became this — you and I, the poster children for MS.”

The Married… with Children star further added while talking to Dr. Marwa Kaisey, “I had a reason. I had a f—ing reason as to why my day sucked every day. And now I don’t have a reason and it’s very unnerving and it’s really confusing for me.” Applegate is still unfortunately struggling with her illness.
