Charles Benson is ending his work with TMJ4 News after spending 22 years at the Milwaukee station. The departure was announced on November 2, though the broadcaster has not yet confirmed when Benson will present his final newscast. He is expected to remain on the newsroom schedule for coverage of the November 3 elections.

Benson marked the end of his tenure by thanking the station and reflecting on his years covering news across Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin. “After 22 years at TMJ4, I am filled with gratitude. It has been an incredible journey,” he said. His assignments over the years included presidential campaigns, election coverage and breaking news, as well as reports on issues affecting people throughout Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin.

Benson added, “It’s not always about the stories you break; it’s about the people you meet. It’s about making a difference, showing the struggles people go through, and having an impact in our community.” The news anchor also thanked viewers who had followed his work. He said, “Most of all, I’m thankful to the Milwaukee-area community for trusting me to tell your stories and help make sense of a complicated and ever-changing world.”

He also recognized the TMJ4 staff members who had been part of his career, describing them as “an extraordinary group of colleagues.” Benson has not revealed what he plans to do after leaving the station. He said he would have more to share about his future, but his immediate focus remains on the election. “For now, there’s still work to do, including another important election,” he concluded.
