Meghan Markle’s MasterChef role has reportedly caused a popular Aussie star to be sidelined. According to a source, Robert Irwin was allegedly considered as the co-host of the culinary show if the deal with the Duchess didn’t fall through. For those unversed, the “Suits” alum, who made a guest appearance on the show a few months ago, would return on MasterChef Junior next season. She will reportedly join the judges’ panel.
Meghan Markle’s MasterChef role saw Robert Irwin sidelined as potential co-host, per source
Meghan Markle’s return to MasterChef Australia allegedly sidelined Robert Irwin. A source told Now To Love’s Woman’s Day that the Aussie star was considered a potential co-host. “Word is that Robert Irwin was being held in the wings in case this deal with Meghan fell through.” They added that the 22-year-old conservationist “absolutely loved” to be part of the show and might have made the “perfect co-host.”
However, the deal didn’t work out as Markle recently announced her return to the culinary competition. According to the outlet, the Duchess of Sussex’s earlier appearance on MasterChef received major views. Compared to Irwin’s segment, the result was “neck and neck.” However, the popular zookeeper’s slot was on a Wednesday while Markle’s was on Sunday, which was a prime-time slot.
Meanwhile, the show’s host, Poh Ling Yeow, seemed excited about Markle’s addition in the upcoming season of MasterChef Junior Australia. During a promo launch, she told the outlet that she has still been “processing” the news. According to her, the decision was “incredible” and “wonderful.” “Meghan was a consummate professional; she was so easygoing,” Yeow said, recalling the Duchess’ appearance on the main show.
On the other hand, Markle confirmed her upcoming gig in a joint statement with Channel 10. She stated, “I had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April, so when they approached me to come back and work with this young group of talent, it was an easy yes.”
