Donald Trump Says Solar Panels Fry Animals at Texas Rally, Drawing Criticism

Donald Trump told a crowd at a Texas rally that solar panels kill animals by burning them. This claim sent social media users calling for the 25th Amendment. The president made the comments on Tuesday while campaigning for Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

Speaking in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Donald Trump drifted from the campaign message to energy policy. He singled out large solar installations and said they harm wildlife. “They have solar, some solar, not those big monsters that they put up all over, they kill all the animals,” Trump said. He then described how he believes the animals die. “The animals jump on them, and they fry because those black panels are hotter than your stove,” he said.

Users on X reacted within hours, and many tied the remarks to the 25th Amendment. The amendment lays out how presidential powers pass to someone else when a president cannot perform the job, and how a president who dies, resigns, or is removed gets replaced.

“It’s really time for 25th Amendment for real,” one user wrote. Others went further. “This man does not live in reality. 25th amendment is never too late to invoke before he does something incredibly stupid,” a third user wrote. A fourth joked with a meme that said: “Supreme Leader, some of your knowledge coming from cartoons.”

The president visited the state to boost Ken Paxton, a Republican, against Democratic challenger James Talarico. Polls show Talarico ahead of Paxton, who has faced scandal. That is an unusual position for a Democrat in a state Republicans have traditionally held. Price increases connected to the war in Iran are adding to voter frustration. Democrats have also made gains in districts that once leaned Republican, and Trump has been working to shore up support before the midterm elections.
