Prince Harry is reportedly urging Meghan Markle to give their new life in the U.K. more time as the Duchess of Sussex considers extending her stay in California over the Christmas holidays. According to a source, Meghan has struggled to settle into the couple’s move to the Cotswolds and has suggested that Harry return to Britain before she and their children, raising fresh questions about their future plans.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly received an “emotional” and enthusiastic welcome from fans in Nottingham during their first joint public appearance in the U.K. last week. However, an unnamed source claimed that the couple’s experience behind closed doors has been less straightforward, with Meghan continuing to feel homesick and eager to return to Los Angeles.

News that the Sussexes plan to spend Christmas in California with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, reportedly came as little surprise to royal sources. The couple are said to have made plans to return to the U.S. just three months after relocating to the U.K. in August.

According to Closer, Meghan had reservations about relocating to Britain from the beginning, and her experience since the move has allegedly strengthened those concerns. “Meghan had her doubts about this move back from day one, and unfortunately a lot of her fears have come true,” the source claimed.

The insider added that Harry has become particularly concerned after Meghan suggested that a few weeks in California would not be enough. “The even more worrisome part is she’s already saying a few weeks won’t be enough and has even suggested he go back ahead of her and the children, which is just not anything like Harry is envisioning; it’s pretty devastating for him that she’s suggesting it,” the source said.

The report further suggests that Harry and Meghan have different views about returning to Britain. The Duke reportedly sees the move as a long-term plan, while his wife is unsure whether settling in the U.K. was the right decision.
