Donald Trump’s Latest Texas Rally Revives Questions About Crowd Size

Donald Trump’s latest Texas rally has drawn attention for the MAGA crowd who showed up. A short video from the Corpus Christi event triggered online ridicule, with critics comparing the gathering to a school gym and questioning the strength of his political movement.

The clip lasted just eight seconds, but it gave social media plenty to debate. Trump addressed supporters wearing MAGA hats at the Port of Corpus Christi on Tuesday, where attendees chanted “U-S-A.” Once footage of the venue circulated on X (formerly Twitter), critics seized on its appearance and suggested the crowd looked smaller than expected (via The Daily Beast).

Anti-MAGA commentator Joanne Carducci joked that Trump could no longer “fill a high school gymnasium.” Breck Worsham, who said she previously worked on Trump’s campaign and supported him, contrasted the event with his earlier appearances at football stadium-sized venues. “Oh, how the mighty hath fallen,” Worsham wrote, adding that she loved seeing the change.

The criticism spread beyond crowd-size jokes. Democratic strategist Keith Edwards shared the footage and said that “MAGA is in free fall.”

Other users described the movement as losing influence, while progressive pundit Ari Drennen compared the turnout with crowds she encountered while working on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. She recalled seeing similar numbers for the vice presidential candidate’s wife, even though Clinton ultimately lost.

The White House pushed back sharply against the criticism. Spokesperson Davis Ingle blasted the Daily Beast, accusing the publication of portraying Trump’s rallies unfairly and dismissing its coverage as evidence of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” He maintained that the president’s events remain “electrifying and wildly popular.”

Speaking in Texas, Trump touted his electoral record, claiming he had carried the state “three times” with a higher vote total than any candidate in history. He also admitted that those victories are “good for my ego.”
