Expert reveals how Meghan Markle’s UK return showcases her Hollywood stint
According to Fox News Digital, Meghan Markle is no longer in talks to join Season 3 of “The Gentlemen.” Royal experts told the outlet that the Duchess of Sussex’s “safety net” at Netflix “is gone.” They suggested that the uncertainty surrounding her relationship with the streaming giant could jeopardize her plans for an acting comeback before they gain momentum.
“Harry and Meghan’s champion inside Netflix, Bela Bajaria, has recently left the streaming service,” British broadcaster Helena Chard said. She continued, “The previous safety net is gone. Unfortunately for Meghan, she may want to jump straight into a top acting role, but there is far more stacked against it happening.”
Meanwhile, Kinsey Schofield questioned the Sussexes’ reported relationship with Netflix, saying, “What I find most revealing is that Meghan’s camp now appears comfortable publicly criticizing Netflix. This was one of their most important commercial partners.”
The host of Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered added, “This was one of their most important commercial partners. You don’t typically throw a company under the bus when you’re counting on them to finance your next big project.” She further claimed, “To me, this is the clearest indication yet that their relationship with Netflix has effectively come to an end.”
Schofield also challenged the suggestion that Meghan’s involvement could have boosted the show’s viewership. “The Gentlemen is an established Guy Ritchie production with its own audience. The suggestion that Netflix needed Meghan to rescue its viewing figures is quite a claim from someone whose own lifestyle series struggled to become a mainstream hit,” she said.
The 41-year-old further argued that Meghan’s royal connections alone would not guarantee success in the entertainment industry. “Meghan’s royal connections might get her into the room, but they don’t guarantee her a successful acting career. At some point, the work has to speak for itself.”
Schofield also suggested that the Sussexes had “recognized that their Hollywood experiment wasn’t delivering the success they expected.” She continued, “Their return to Britain gives them something Los Angeles can’t offer—proximity to the monarchy.”
