Christian Bale beats Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal for sexiest horror villain
Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman has topped a new ranking of the sexiest horror villains, finishing ahead of Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal Lecter. According to Parade, a study by Psychic World evaluated 11 well-known horror characters using social media discussions about their attractiveness and facial proportions measured against the so-called golden ratio.
Bateman earned an overall score of 95 out of 100, securing first place. The character from American Psycho reportedly received nearly 179 posts describing him as sexy for every 100,000 posts analyzed on X. His facial proportions also earned an 84% golden ratio score. These results put Bateman ahead of the other villains included in the assessment.
Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates shared second place, each scoring 94 points. For Hannibal, the study considered Mikkelsen’s portrayal of the cannibalistic psychiatrist in NBC’s Hannibal series. The character generated approximately 175 posts about his attractiveness per 100,000 posts examined and received an 84% score for facial proportions, matching Bateman on that measure.
Freddy Krueger ranked fourth with an overall score of 84 out of 100, despite leading all 11 characters in social media posts describing them as sexy. The A Nightmare on Elm Street killer generated more posts about his sex appeal per 100,000 posts analyzed on X than any other villain in the study. However, his lower score for facial proportions reduced his overall standing and placed him behind Patrick Bateman, Hannibal Lecter, and Norman Bates.
Meanwhile, Pinhead secured fifth place with 82 points. Jigsaw, Pennywise, Chucky, Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees occupied the remaining positions in the ranking.
