Queen Camilla Could Steal Meghan Markle’s TV Spotlight — Report

Meghan Markle might be at the center of some casting drama, but it seems Queen Camilla could soon get a screen role. It was reported that allies of the Duchess of Sussex accused Netflix of “using” her to promote “The Gentlemen” after reports spread that she would join the cast. However, an insider from the Guy Ritchie series seemingly hit back directly. They claimed that it is “not a show in need of stunt casting.”

Queen Camilla reportedly eyed for new casting role amid Meghan Markle’s ‘The Gentlemen’ drama

According to Richard Eden’s column in the Daily Mail, one of Queen Camilla’s favorite authors, Peter James, hopes to see her and King Charles star in the ITV adaptation of his Roy Grace novels. Grace is a Sussex Police detective superintendent who solves grisly crimes. James reportedly spoke at the Brighton Palace Pier launch of his latest novel, “Dead In Three Two One.” He said, “I’m going to ask Camilla if she’d like to play herself in Grace.”

In James’s previous thriller, “The Hawk Is Dead,” the King and Queen help Grace after he is called upon to solve the murder of a royal aide. It was said that James was asked who should play Camilla opposite John Simm’s Grace. “I would choose Camilla,” the author claimed. He also said that he would love to see Charles in “The Hawk” as well.

Furthermore, James reportedly said that the King did some acting at school. For context, Charles played Macbeth at Gordonstoun School, as well as the Duke of Exeter in “Henry V.” “I’d love to see him take it up again,” the author said.

Camilla is seemingly no stranger to the set. In 2021, she reportedly visited a Grace episode, “Dead Tomorrow,” where she offered to perform a cameo as a corpse. However, James hopes to eventually see a more animated version of the Queen. “Camilla’s up for a laugh and she’s really good fun,” he said. James also claimed that her sense of humor would make it “so cool” if she starred in it.
