Meghan Markle has broken her silence following disturbing allegations against her father, Thomas Markle Sr. The Duchess of Sussex issued a statement and expressed concern for children who may have suffered harm. She also opened up about an earlier warning involving her father and explained why she kept her children away from him.

Meghan Markle has spoken out after her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., made serious accusations against their father. Thomas Jr. claims he found child sexual abuse material among Thomas Markle Sr.’s belongings in the Philippines.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Meghan shared her reaction to the news. “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” she said.
Meghan also brought up a warning she received back in 2018. She said authorities sent a letter raising concerns about her father to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection before sharing it with her.
Meghan said authorities assured her at the time that they were investigating the allegations. She now says those concerns played a part in her decision to keep her children away from their grandfather.
“I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them,” she explained.
Thomas Jr. told The Sun that he contacted authorities after finding the alleged material. Investigators have yet to prove his accusations, and authorities have not clarified the current status of the reported investigation.
His father has rejected the claims. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Thomas Sr. said, “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of.”
Meghan has had little contact with her father for years. Their troubled relationship has often made headlines, but this time, Meghan says her concerns were about protecting her children.
