Anthony and Joe Russo’s production company, AGBO, is developing a science fiction thriller for Paramount+ alongside Paramount Television Studios.

The upcoming series, titled Zero Hour, brings together writer Matthew Michael Carnahan and author Harrison Query, whose short story serves as the basis for the adaptation. Carnahan, known for his work on World War Z and Deepwater Horizon, will write the series and oversee it as showrunner.

According to Deadline, Paramount+ secured the project after it attracted interest from multiple buyers. In Zero Hour, the sudden appearance of unidentified oval-shaped objects in the sky sets off a worldwide emergency, forcing people in different circumstances to confront an event they cannot explain. The story follows several individuals as they deal with the immediate consequences.

While one woman struggles to keep her sick husband alive, a family prepares to flee danger, and two teenage runaways become involved in a bank robbery. At the same time, a presidential aide in Washington works to determine the significance of the strange objects appearing overhead.

Paramount Television Studios and AGBO will produce Zero Hour. Executive producers include Carnahan, Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes. Scott Glassgold of 12:01 Films and Query are also executive producers.

The series adds to Paramount+’s investment in science fiction and other genre-led projects. As of now, the platform has not announced a release date for the series. More details about the series are expected as it approaches production.
