Donald Trump Uses 3 Words for Kimberly Guilfoyle Amex Incident

President Donald Trump addressed the growing scrutiny of Kimberly Guilfoyle on Monday, telling reporters he is weighing her future as US ambassador to Greece. His remarks came as federal investigators examine allegations tied to her conduct, including a reported request for money to settle an Amex bill.

Trump confirmed he is considering dismissing Guilfoyle, who previously was engaged to his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. “We’re looking at it — yeah. We’re not happy,” he told reporters when asked about a possible firing.

The controversy centers on claims that Guilfoyle solicited $100,000 from former Trump donor Eric Deters to pay off an American Express card before her Senate confirmation. Deters said he never wired the money, citing limited liquid assets.

Lawyers for Guilfoyle rejected the allegations, stating Deters owed her money for speeches and consulting work. “Asking a client to pay for work already done is not corruption. It is the opposite of corruption,” they wrote.

They also called reports about her travel misleading and said she complied with federal gift and reporting requirements. The State Department’s Office of the Inspector General is investigating Guilfoyle, as per CNN. The office typically declines to comment on ongoing matters.

Moreover, the reports landed awkwardly for the administration, surfacing while Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave a speech from the Acropolis in Athens. Vice President JD Vance declined Friday to prejudge the situation, saying he would not “try people in the court of public opinion,” though he voiced discomfort with anyone selling access to officials.

All in all, Deters told the outlet on Monday he plans to sue Guilfoyle and her lawyers for defamation after they questioned the authenticity of the messages. He said he has not been contacted by the inspector general’s office. Now, public awaits Donald Trump’s decision on her firing.
