Prince Harry reportedly disclosed that his late mother Princess Diana’s perfume “unlocked everything” he had kept “locked previously.” As reported by PEOPLE magazine, while on MasterClass’s “Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss,” the Duke of Sussex sat down with Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor for an intense conversation.

Per the news outlet, Prince Harry revealed that after his mother passed away, he had to shut down the heartbreaking memories. However, according to the Duke of Sussex, shutting them down came with an unexpected consequence.

He also lost access to all the happy memories. The Duke of Sussex explained, “I forgot what my mom sounded like. I forgot her laugh.” He also admitted, “I couldn’t really visualize what she looked like without looking at a photograph of her.”

In the meantime, Prince Harry further discussed how his therapist suggested he look for his late mother by her scent. The therapist reportedly suggested the Duke of Sussex as a way to access memories that had become hard to reach.

Prince Harry said it felt like being transported to a different time. The Duke of Sussex further disclosed that he had unsealed “everything” he had previously kept sealed. “But spraying my mother’s scent was almost like knocking certain bricks through so that I could see through, and certain memories and experiences could start seeping through,” he explained.
