The former Duke of York is challenging search warrants used during the investigation that led to his February arrest
Ex-Prince Andrew is reportedly positive that he will win his legal case against the Thames Valley Police. For those unversed, the search warrants were issued in February over suspicions of misconduct in public office and allegations concerning his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Now, eight months after the incident, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly pursued legal action against police who arrested him and searched his homes earlier this year. A private hearing regarding the case is scheduled for Thursday, October 8. Ahead of the hearing, the disgraced royal is “utterly convinced” he will win the legal battle (via The Sun).
A source alleged that the former Duke of York feels “upbeat” and “buoyant”. Also, he is sure of the fact he will be “completely exonerated” one day. The insider added that Andrew views the judicial review as the “first step” towards clearing the allegations and restoring his reputation.
Notably, Andrew’s older brother, King Charles, stripped his brother of royal titles. The king also banished him from royal accommodation. The disgraced prince disappeared from royal life and stopped making official public appearances.
Interestingly, Charles continues to provide his brother an allowance from his private funds. However, as per a new update, the King has distanced himself from Andrew’s legal case. Also, he will not allow him to use private funds to fund the judicial review.
At the time, Charles issued a statement: “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”
