Meghan Markle reportedly wants a private sit-down with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other senior royals after returning to Britain. The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry were said to regret parts of their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.

A new source claimed the couple believed they “took things too far” during that period. Meghan was also expected to offer an apology as they pursue reconciliation. However, commentators questioned whether the royal family would accept it.

As per an Express report, the couple reportedly reconsidered their Oprah interview. A source said Meghan Markle and Prince Harry knew they would need to “eat humble pie.” Their “one big regret” was reportedly the 2021 interview after leaving royal duties. The insider specifically referenced Meghan’s claim about conversations concerning Archie’s skin color. According to the source, Meghan now viewed that allegation as her “biggest mistake.” Harry had supported her then, but the couple allegedly believed they “took things too far.”

Meanwhile, the insider said Harry and Meghan wanted to “focus on the future.” Their goal reportedly included “a reconciliation at some point” with Prince William and the wider royal family. The source added, “They really want a sit-down” to discuss their earlier remarks. Most notably, the insider said, “Meghan will apologise.” However, the report did not confirm when such a meeting might happen. It also did not establish whether Prince William, Kate Middleton, King Charles, or Queen Camilla had agreed to participate.

Still, Daily Express associate editor James Walker questioned how seriously senior royals would take any apology. “I believe they’re going to apologise,” he said. However, he added that he would not take it “remotely seriously” in their position. Walker alleged that the Sussexes wanted “money back in the coffers” and more public opportunities. Meanwhile, host JJ Anisiobi argued that some British viewers would not easily forgive them. The comments came after Harry and Meghan returned to the UK in late August following their relocation to the United States in 2020.
