A satirical golden statue of Donald Trump, showing the president without clothes, went on display inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week, drawing attention to a long-running artistic attack on his climate record.
Danish artist Jens Galschiøt created the work, titled “Orange Plague” and also known as “King of Injustice.” Staff unveiled it on Tuesday by removing an orange cloth that covered it. It remains on view through Thursday.

The golden statue stands about 2.5 meters tall, including its pedestal. According to the artist, it carries a coating of 23-karat gold. It shows Trump naked, gripping a long golf club and perched on the shoulders of a much smaller man. Organizers placed it at one of the parliament’s busiest intersections, where it links two of the complex’s buildings. Lawmakers, staff, and visitors pass it throughout the day.
Galschiøt has described Trump as one of the biggest obstacles to tackling climate change. The smaller figure beneath Trump represents the burden placed on less powerful people or institutions. The sculpture also draws on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Emperor’s New Clothes. Galschiøt has used the work to explore the contrast between powerful and vulnerable groups.
Per Clausen, a left-wing Danish member of the European Parliament, invited the artist to bring the statue to Strasbourg. He said he does not fear a reaction from Trump. “If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture being exhibited in the European Parliament, then they have no place on the world stage,” Clausen said, according to Deutsche Welle (DW).
The sculpture has appeared at several events, including the COP30 UN climate conference in Belém, Brazil, in 2025. It was also displayed at the Munich Security Conference and in other European cities. Trump has not publicly commented on the statue.
