Prince Harry’s security battle could gain fresh momentum after a recent incident involving his children, according to royal author Ingrid Seward. She suggested the Duke of Sussex could use the situation to strengthen his case for increased protection in the UK.
Royal author suggests Prince Harry will advocate for more security using the recent incident with his kids
The incident reportedly happened near the school attended by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Two men carrying backpacks and cameras were reportedly spotted near the school perimeter from a white van. Private security and school staff noticed them monitoring the area. (via Express UK)
A Team Sussex spokesperson strongly criticized the incident. They called the men’s actions “extraordinarily reckless.” They also described it as an “unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children.”
The incident could now become relevant to the wider Prince Harry security debate. Harry and Meghan Markle are awaiting a decision about their taxpayer-funded security arrangements in Britain.
Seward addressed the situation during a recent conversation on “The Sun’s Royal Exclusive“. She suggested the couple could use the incident when making their case. “I do feel certain that they [the Sussexes] probably will use this to try and benefit themselves in some kind of way,” Seward said.
Host Matt Wilkinson then noted that the incident had already reached the authorities. Those officials will assess whether Harry and Meghan should receive taxpayer-funded armed security.
The debate comes after the couple returned to Britain with their children. Archie and Lilibet reportedly started attending a British school this year.
However, their school arrangements later changed. Security concerns reportedly played a role in that decision. GB News royal correspondent Cameron Walker also discussed the issue. He highlighted concerns surrounding unauthorized photographs of the Sussex children.
Walker suggested British publications may avoid publishing such images. However, European outlets could potentially create demand for photographs of Archie and Lilibet. He raised another concern about the situation. “What happens if they had something far more dangerous?,” Walker said.
Harry has previously challenged decisions surrounding his UK security. His legal battle has focused on the level of protection available when he visits Britain.
However, it is up to the authorities to decide whether the Sussexes require additional protection. Their assessment will depend on the security risks surrounding Harry and his family.
