Tom Cruise and Kate Middleton have reportedly raised eyebrows with their interaction at the premiere of the movie “Digger.” However, the palace allegedly seems more worried that Cruise’s bond with the royal could influence her and Prince William. After the premiere, the Hollywood icon heaped praise on the Princess of Wales and even said William did well to marry Middleton.
Palace insiders reportedly have concerns about Cruise’s Scientology ties, not romance with the Princess of Wales
According to insiders, the palace is concerned about the closeness between Kate Middleton and Tom Cruise. However, their worries are reportedly not about a romantic connection.
A source close to the palace recently told Naughty But Nice’s Rob Shuter that the main concern regarding Middleton and Cruise’s growing bond is the actor’s affiliation with Scientology. They said, “Nobody is worried Catherine is going to run off with Tom Cruise. They’re worried about Scientology getting anywhere near the future king and queen. That is a completely different matter.”
Although Cruise seems to have been good friends with the future king and queen for years, the insider suggests their growing friendship is raising questions within the royal family.
The insider added that although Middleton has expressed no interest in joining Scientology, the palace is keen to protect boundaries. They added, “William will one day be king, with a formal role in the Church of England. Tom isn’t simply another Hollywood friend. Some people think this relationship is getting too close for comfort.” After the Waleses’ red-carpet appearance at the premiere of “Digger,” Cruise has also showered Middleton with praise.
In an interview with Extra, the actor said both William and Middleton are amazing and “very funny” people. He said the Princess had an “incredible sense of humor” and suggested she looked stunning in the dress she wore at the premiere.
