Sacrifice, Anya Taylor-Joy’s upcoming film centered on ritualistic killings, is heading to Netflix. The movie debuts on the platform in October. According to What’s On Netflix, Sacrifice will begin streaming on October 16, 2026.

Directed by Romain Gavras and co-written with Will Arbery, Sacrifice had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows a movie star as he attempts to revive his career. However, he soon becomes one of the people targeted by a radical group, who believe a ritual sacrifice can save humanity.

After their mother dies, Joan and her siblings become convinced that a volcanic prophecy requires them to cleanse the Earth. Their belief leads them to target a high-profile charity gala. They abduct three people they believe are essential to a sacrificial ritual. The trio is movie star Mike Tyler, billionaire Ben Bracken, and performer Katie. As the group pulls the captives deeper into their plan, the night grows increasingly violent.

The cast includes Chris Evans as Mike Tyler, Anya Taylor-Joy as Joan, Vincent Cassel as Ben Bracken, Salma Hayek as Gloria Bracken, Ambika Mod as Katie or Daughter Nature, and Sam Richardson as Oliver, among others.

Sacrifice has received a largely negative response from critics. The film currently holds a 36 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 36 reviews. Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com reported, “The movie meanders its way to a disappointing ending that seems to be the product of a writer who never figured out what he wanted to say about the environment or how shallowly it’s used by influencers and celebrities, only that it is.”
