Meghan Markle ‘Stunned’ by Unexpected Upside to Kids’ UK Move — Source

Meghan Markle reportedly discovered an unexpected advantage after moving her kids back to Britain with Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex was said to be “stunned” by stronger press rules around children and schools.

The realization followed a reported security incident near the children’s new school, which drew police attention. A new claim said British protections may offer Archie and Lilibet safeguards Harry did not have growing up. The finding reportedly shifted Meghan’s view of Britain’s press environment.

As per Rob Shuter’s Substack, Meghan Markle learned about Britain’s school-related press protections. A royal insider said Meghan was “stunned.” The source said she had not understood “how specifically children are protected here.”

Meanwhile, the discovery came after men were spotted around the school perimeter, prompting police involvement. Current reporting said school staff and private security noticed two men near the grounds. Police later identified one as a photographer linked to a European press agency. The Sussexes’ spokesperson called the conduct “extraordinarily reckless.”

Specifically, the IPSO’s Editors’ Code places restrictions on press conduct around pupils. Clause 6 says pupils should complete school without “unnecessary intrusion.” It also restricts journalists from approaching or photographing pupils at school without permission.

Additionally, a parent’s fame alone cannot justify publishing details of a child’s private life. Meanwhile, Shuter’s source claimed Meghan and Prince Harry had expected California to offer their kids greater protection. Instead, the insider said Britain’s school-specific rules could provide Archie and Lilibet another layer of privacy.

For context, Harry grew up under intense media attention while royal officials sometimes arranged controlled photocalls. Shuter’s report framed the discovery against those childhood experiences and Princess Diana’s death. Meanwhile, the children had recently changed schools following earlier security concerns.

Still, press rules cannot prevent every security threat, and police must determine what happened around the school—the reported upside-down concern was media conduct, not physical protection. As a result, the source claimed Meghan now saw an unexpected benefit to raising her kids in Britain.
