Prince Harry reportedly became part of Prince William’s anger over Charles Spencer’s upcoming Diana memoir. The Prince of Wales was said to believe the book placed the monarchy in an “impossible” position. A source also claimed William was “sickened” by his brother’s apparent support for their uncle.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex was described as being “in the loop” about the project. The claims emerged days before the memoir’s scheduled September 22 release.
Prince William believes Diana memoir is ‘putting the monarchy in an impossible position,’ per source
As per a Women’s Day report, William reacted strongly to Spencer’s book. The memoir, “Swan Song: Diana My Sister,” was due for release on September 22. Meanwhile, the insider said, “William is disgusted that his uncle has effectively taken off the gloves.”
They claimed Spencer had “decided to hammer his father so brazenly.” The source also stressed the timing came “in the year before his mother’s 30th anniversary, no less.”
However, the source said Prince William believed the fallout reached beyond the allegations about King Charles. “It’s stirring up unnecessary conflict,” the insider claimed. They said it was “putting the monarchy in an impossible and insufferable position.”
Additionally, the source said it “would most certainly have upset his grandparents.” They also cited “many surviving members of the family.” The insider portrayed William’s concern as institutional and personal, with Diana’s anniversary approaching next year.
At the same time, the source tied Prince Harry directly to William’s reported frustration. “The fact that Harry is behind all this” made the situation worse, the insider claimed. They added he was “at the very least cheering it all on in the background.”
According to the source, that “just sickens William even more.” Elsewhere, Harry was described as “incredibly proud of his uncle.” He reportedly called the memoir an “extremely courageous, worthy mission.” He also said, “the truth is all that ultimately matters.”
