Peter Krause is returning to television with a guarantee for viewers: his new NBC drama will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Krause presented the ceremony’s award for Best Director in a Drama Series alongside Paradise‘s Shailene Woodley.
Peter Krause promises cliffhangers in NBC’s new drama Line of Fire
Peter Krause’s new show, Line of Fire, is his first television role since he exited 9-1-1 in 2025. He played firefighter Bobby Nash until the character’s death in Season 8. In the upcoming NBC drama, Krause plays a United States Secret Service agent whose family, all of whom are law enforcement officers, sets out to track down an assassin.
“It’s a great suspense-thriller, family-drama-comedy,” Krause told People. The actor did not hold back when describing what viewers can expect from the series. “The lovely and talented Hope Davis — I play her husband. She’s Jane, I’m Mike. She’s a federal marshal, I’m in the Secret Service. Our three kids: Kat Cunning, Taylor Bloom, Tommy O’Brien. FBI, Secret Service, Department of Justice, and there are some surprises that I can’t tell you about. Major surprises that propel the series forward, a cliffhanger every episode. Probably one of the most exciting TV series I’ve done,” he added.
Peter Krause also teased marital tension between his and Davis’ on-screen spouses during the first season. “In the beginning of the show, Jane and Mike, their marriage is on the rocks, so we’ll get to see Jane and Mike over time come together,” he said. “In the current moment, Hope Davis, who plays Jane, is seeing a senator played by Campbell Scott named Terry. I don’t know what’s up with that,” Krause added.
Moreover, the actor, who has become known for playing characters in positions of authority, said American law enforcement’s oath promising to defend the U.S. Constitution is “embedded in the DNA of the show.” Krause also expressed his appreciation for working with a large ensemble cast.
Line of Fire premieres on NBC on September 21, with new episodes airing Mondays at 10 p.m. ET.
