Avengers: Secret Wars’ Exciting Spider-Verse Rumor May Already Be Dead

A new leak may have just killed one of Secret Wars’ most exciting rumors before filming even begins. Scooper DanielRPK addressed whether live-action Spider-Verse characters will actually appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.

New Avengers: Secret Wars rumor contradicts an earlier Spider-Verse claim

Scooper DanielRPK recently debunked rumors about live-action Spider-Verse characters appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars. The well-known industry insider shared on social media that the claim is “not true.” This directly contradicts earlier reports that suggested Marvel Studios planned to bring Spider-Verse characters into the film.

SuperHeroHype previously covered rumors that Secret Wars would feature a live-action version of Spider-Island. That report suggested the film would use Battleworld to bring several Spider-Verse characters into the MCU. Scoopers had claimed the movie would use this opportunity for a major crossover event.

The original rumor gained traction because Secret Wars draws inspiration from the 2015 Marvel Comics storyline. Spider Island served as a prominent domain on Battleworld in that source material. Fans speculated this could open the door for multiple versions of Spider-Man to appear together.

However, DanielRPK’s debunk aligns with the practical realities of Sony’s licensing arrangement. Sony controls the film rights to Spider-Man and related characters through a licensing agreement. Marvel Studios can use Spider-Man in a limited number of MCU films under their current deal.

Reddit users on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers largely agreed with the debunk. One commenter noted that Sony would unlikely let Miles Morales debut in Secret Wars over their own films. Another pointed out the original rumor came from James Mack, a source the subreddit has banned for inaccuracy.

Marvel Studios plans to release Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027, exactly one year after Doomsday. Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to direct the film alongside Avengers: Doomsday. The studio expects to ramp up filming in late 2026 but has not yet officially confirmed the full ensemble cast.
