Tyler Perry‘s popular hit drama series returns to Netflix on August 27. The show was previously scheduled to end before the streaming giant renewed it for an additional season.
Netflix has begun streaming the third season of Perry’s Beauty in Black, with one key difference in its release schedule. While Seasons 1 and 2 were split into two batches of eight episodes, the third season is set to have only a single batch of eight episodes. The show has been renewed for a fourth season.
What is Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 about?
In the finale of Season 2, Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) became the COO of the Beauty in Black Empire. She also became the wife of Ricco Ross’ Horace, cementing her position at the top. Kimmie was also able to form an alliance with Mallory (Crystle Stewart).
This results in the state receiving incriminating evidence regarding the Bellaires, whose offices are raided by the FBI, and arrests are quickly made. Season 3 picks up where Season 2 left off, with Kimmie on top. However, the fight is far from over. Regarding the situation that the character finds herself in, actress Taylor Polidore Williams revealed that reaching the top was only the beginning for Kimmie. She said, “The hardest part of being powerful isn’t gaining the power, it’s keeping it.”
One of the key twists of Season 2 was the unlikely alliance that was forged between Kimmie and Mallory. This partnership ended up being devastating for the Bellaire clan, as revealed by Crystle Stewart. She said, “The Bellarie family has always relied on division, secrets, and people turning against one another. When Mallory and Kimmie find common ground, it becomes much harder for those old dynamics to work.”
Some of the most important questions after the finale of Season 2 will be explored in Season 3, such as who the FBI has actually managed to keep behind bars, and who has a secret ace up their sleeve. All eight episodes of Season 3 are available to stream now.
