Rosie O’Donnell asks Donald Trump to resign in final Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance
During her farewell from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Rosie O’Donnell sang a song specially written for Donald Trump.
O’Donnell started by saying, “I’ve really enjoyed my time here. Thanks to everyone who’s been watching here this week, especially the hungry, hungry hypocrite in the White House. Kinda weird to think he spent more nights with me this week than Melania. True fact.”
She continued, “Most of all, I’d like to thank Jimmy Kimmel for inviting me to do this and for reminding everyone that we have the right to free speech in this country, whether orange Voldemort likes it or not.”
Rosie O’Donnell brought the attention back to Donald Trump towards the final moments of her address, stating, “I would like to close my final monologue here with a traditional Irish song, dedicated to a very special boy.” The 64-year-old subsequently broke into a personalized version of “Danny Boy,” which included verses criticizing Trump’s approval rating, his obsession with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, the Iran war, rising inflation, and his alleged sleeping during public events, among other things.
While concluding her song, O’Donnell noted, “But there’s a way to end this drama. It’s time to use that stable genius brain. Since we all know you’ll never be Obama, why not resign and make this country great again?”
Rosie O’Donnell is one of the several summer guest hosts announced by Jimmy Kimmel to headline the show in his absence. Other celebrities on the list include Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, Jelly Roll and Matt Damon.
