Fauda Season 5 finally has a date, and the first images tease what’s coming next. Netflix revealed when the hit Israeli drama returns and offered a glimpse at new and returning faces.
Fauda Season 5’s Netflix release date arrives almost four years later
Fauda Season 5 will premiere on Netflix globally on September 8, as Deadline exclusively reported. The Israeli drama stars Lior Raz as Doron Kavillio and comes from Raz and writer Avi Issacharoff. Additionally, Netflix revealed first-look images from the upcoming season.
Season 5 takes place two years after the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Doron and the other fighters launch a deadly race to stop a catastrophic attack on Israel. As a result, the season forces them to confront the true cost of war after war. Meanwhile, Melanie Laurent and Hakim Djaziri join the cast for the new season. Yaakov Zada Daniel and Doron Ben-David also return alongside Raz in key roles. Omri Givon directs the season and writes with Omri Shenhar, Issacharoff, Raz, and others.
Notably, Raz and Issacharoff scrapped their original scripts for Season 5 after the October 7 attack. Instead, they reformulated the story with that event at its center. The eleven-episode season filmed across Israel and Hungary.
“This is a TV show, not reality. But we thought that there is still a story here to be told,” Issacharoff said. “We wanted to ask very tough questions to people all over the world, not only in Israel. Is the revenge worth it? Is continuing this very endless cycle of bloodshed worth it? Where is it taking you? I think these are the questions that are at the heart of this season.”
Furthermore, Yes TV and L. Benasuly Productions co-produce the series. Yes Studios handles international distribution for the show. Liat Benasuly serves as producer, with Nitay Netzer as director of photography. Netflix acquired all seasons of the acclaimed Israeli drama to date.
