Tracker Season 4 report reveals exactly when Jensen Ackles’ Russell Shaw returns
Tracker Season 4 premiered on October 4, and CBS has now confirmed when Jensen Ackles will return as Russell Shaw. According to TVLine, the actor will appear in Season 4, Episode 5, titled “Need to Know,” airing Sunday, November 1.
The upcoming episode will see Colter Shaw, played by Justin Hartley, investigating the kidnapping of a military contractor’s wife and daughter. During the investigation, Colter discovers that his older brother Russell is following a related lead.
Although the brothers will work together, their reunion doesn’t appear to be planned. Their complicated relationship could create more tension as they investigate the dangerous case. Meanwhile, Russell’s November appearance might not be his only visit this season.
The showrunner Elwood Reid previously told TVLine that he hoped to bring Ackles back for a longer run. Reid also suggested that Russell could become involved in the mystery surrounding the unsolved murder of Mel’s mother. He said, “Knock wood, that could potentially be a good story for Russell to come and get involved in.”
Russell was last seen in the Season 3 finale, where he made a secret deal with the man behind a covert government program. The program had previously pushed the brothers’ father toward the brink.
To complete the undisclosed assignment, Russell secured protection for himself and Colter. He also obtained a file containing potentially disturbing information about their father’s treatment of Colter during childhood.
However, CBS has only confirmed Ackles’ appearance in the November 1 episode so far. Whether Russell returns for additional episodes remains uncertain. The upcoming reunion could finally move some of the show’s biggest family mysteries forward.
