A major Tribeca Festival leak reportedly exposed the contact information for numerous celebrities, including Angelina Jolie and festival co-founder Robert De Niro. Cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler revealed the leak in his ExpressVPN blog post over the weekend.

Jeremiah Fowler, who currently works for Black Hills Information Security, found the data leak. His blog post claimed that the leak revealed 666,369 exposed records with timestamps ranging from 2019 to 2026. It included the contact information for Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Jennifer Lawrence.
Fowler spoke to Variety about the leak. He stated that he has been a security researcher for almost 15 years and is always on the lookout for exposed data. “This one I found using an IoT search engine, which is basically Google for websites but for connected devices like nanny cams, medical equipment or cloud storage databases,” he explained.
De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff co-founded the Tribeca Festival in 2002. Its 2026 edition, which ran from June 3-14, marked its 25th anniversary. In a statement from the festival, a spokesperson addressed the data leak. They said, “None of the talent referenced in recent reporting had personal contact information disclosed.”
“The vast majority of the information consisted of public-facing business contact information, including PR representatives, talent representatives, front office email addresses, information from the Festival website, and other information that was already publicly available. All information was removed promptly upon discovery,” the statement continued.
The majority of the data was not sensitive. However, there was a backup .dump file that “contained potentially sensitive information.” This included a folder called “contacts” with over 13,500 entries, comprising “the names, addresses, phone numbers and emails” of prominent filmmakers and famous actors.
Besides the aforementioned celebs, there was also contact information for Guillermo del Toro, Ron Howard, Morgan Freeman, Rami Malek, and Eva Mendes. Fowler stated that some of the contact fields were either missing data or contained the contacts of assistants, managers, or publicists rather than personal information.
