Angelina Jolie is coolly handling her kids dropping the “Pitt” surname. The latest in the line is her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who has legally filed to be called Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
According to Page Six, Jolie is solely concerned with healing at this time. A source told the news outlet, “Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal.” The insider also claimed that, “If people knew the whole truth they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them.” The Jolies are not revealing everything due to their decency.
Vivienne’s name change adds to the Jolie-Pitt dispute that has been volatile since the actress filed for the dissolution of their marriage in September 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2024. The former A-list Hollywood couple share six children – Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
However, Vivienne is not the first one to officially change her name. Shiloh legally dropped “Pitt” in 2024, while Zahara did so in June 2026. Maddox followed in May 2026 after already using “Maddox Jolie” professionally.
Apart from official changes, the children have organically removed the surname from their lives. Knox is currently using “Knox Jolie” on his high school diploma, while Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in The Outsiders Playbill in 2024. Pax is reportedly in touch with Pitt’s extended family.
Jolie had previously revealed that with the kids grown up, she would like to travel more and enjoy a new chapter in life. She has long been tied to Los Angeles due to her stretched-out property dispute with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
