The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Has 4-Word Reaction to North West’s Hand Piercings

Whoopi Goldberg is standing firmly behind Kim Kardashian after the reality star faced criticism over daughter North West‘s latest piercing. During “The View”, the longtime moderator dismissed the backlash, arguing that parenting decisions should remain between parents and their children while urging the public to stop scrutinizing the 13-year-old.

The hosts of “The View” tackled the online debate surrounding North West after the teenager appeared with piercings on the back of her hand. The conversation quickly turned into a broader discussion about parenting, privacy, and growing up in the public eye.

Goldberg made her opinion clear from the start. “Leave this child alone,” she said after questioning why strangers felt entitled to weigh in on Kim Kardashian’s parenting decisions. Goldberg also defended the family’s right to make personal choices without outside judgment. “If she and her kid decided that’s okay, why do you care?” she asked. “What’s your children doing?”

The moderator, who is the mother of her daughter Alex, added that every parent decides when their own child is ready for certain milestones. She said everyone at the table would likely make decisions they felt were appropriate for their own families.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed that teenagers often find ways to get piercings regardless of parental approval. She recalled getting her second ear piercing at a friend’s house when she was around 14 years old. Although it became slightly infected, she said everything eventually turned out fine.

Griffin distinguished piercings and tattoos, however. She said she would encourage children to wait until they turn 18 before getting permanent ink.

Sunny Hostin shifted the focus to North herself. She pointed out that the 13-year-old has spent her entire life in the spotlight and deserves compassion rather than criticism. “I think we need to give a 13-year-old kid a break,” Hostin said, adding that she could not imagine facing such intense public attention at that age.

When Joy Behar suggested the Kardashian family may welcome media attention, Hostin responded that North might not feel the same way.

Sara Haines echoed those sentiments, saying growing up with two globally famous parents likely creates unique challenges.

Goldberg ended the discussion with another plea to viewers. “Leave these children alone, please,” she said. “Let them work it out.”

North is the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. The former couple also shares Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
