Ben Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, recently sat down for a chat on Subway Takes, where she offered advice to people going through a breakup. The Office Romance actress went on to urge people to become their ultimate versions following a breakup.
She stated, “Breakups are not a failure. I honestly feel like it’s a launchpad into your next best self. We should have a party when we break up!” Lopez asserted that people should congratulate a person if they are going through a breakup for two reasons: first, they “made a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody.” She believes that the best growth happens after a breakup.
She added, “I just feel like the biggest growth spurts I’ve had emotionally, mentally, psychologically have always come from a heartbreak. You change yourself completely.”
Moreover, she conveyed that if a person gets heartbroken, then they are always the “winner.” On the other hand, if a person is the one breaking hearts, Lopez stated that person is a “loser. I’ve been on both sides. We all do that. But if you’re that person, you’re never learning anything.”
Lopez got married to Affleck in July 2022, but they parted ways in 2024. She previously spoke about her divorce on the Smartless podcast. According to a report by Fox News, she shared that the divorce impacted her and said, “There’s been different times where I felt like, whether people outside knew it or not, where I feel like my life blew up in my own face, and it was because of the choices I made. I canceled my tour, and I sat there, and I was just like, you need to f***ing figure yourself out.”
