Henry Schuster is leaving 60 Minutes, says forced departures complicated his farewell
Veteran 60 Minutes producer Henry Schuster has announced his departure from the series in a LinkedIn post, marking another major exit from 60 Minutes. In the post, Schuster, who has been on the network since 2007, referenced several alleged forced departures from the network.
“After almost two decades, it was time for a change,” the veteran producer wrote on LinkedIn. “It has been a great run at 60 MINUTES and what I got to do there was extraordinary.”
He continued, “But I have been thinking about leaving for a while now and when the opportunity presented itself in February, I took it. And finally, it is official.” Hinting at the numerous departures over the past months, he wrote, “Although, it has been overshadowed by the forced departures of so many colleagues and friends at the broadcast.”
In the post, Schuster also told his fans about what the future might, or might not, hold for him now. He announced that he would take a break because he was not the “retiring type.” However, he also mentioned that he is currently unsure as to which direction he plans to take going forward.
“I will try to avoid being a cliché, so I’m not starting a podcast or a Substack. At least not now.
If you have any interesting projects, please let me know. I’m open to ideas,” he further added.
CBS is yet to officially comment on Schusyer’s departure from the series.
