Prince William Traded Royal Duties for Pulling Pints at a London Pub

Prince William ditched royal duties for a day. He was spotted pouring a pint while expressing his desire to support pubs across the UK. These efforts come amid the pub industry facing a tough time in the nation, following rising costs resulting from Rachel Reeves’ budget.

Prince William spotted supporting a pub in London

Prince William recently visited a pub called Prince of Peckham, where he was spotted pouring a pint and sampling jerk chicken. He indulged in an interaction with both newcomers and regulars at the pub while supporting their “Chatty Patty” initiative. It’s a step towards welcoming residents and encouraging them to connect over a cup of tea. Expressing his enthusiasm, he said, “I could stay here forever.”

There, the Prince of Wales spoke about his love for pubs as he chit-chatted with people across. He said, “I love pubs. I want to do as much as I can to support them because I love the community. We need to protect our pubs” (via The Independent). This outing comes amid the pub industry in the UK facing mounting financial pressures. According to reports, in the first quarter alone, two British pubs were closing every day.

Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, earlier explained how the pub closures are avoidable and the problems the owners might face. “The scale of these closures is avoidable because pubs are doing a brisk trade, but their profits are wiped out by a disproportionate tax burden and huge costs,” she highlighted.

This isn’t the first time Prince William has made an appearance in a pub to express his support. For instance, earlier this year, he visited the Gothenburg pub in Fallin. At the time, he showcased his deep attachment to the quintessential British tradition. “I want to help pubs. This is the best place to come and get to know each other,” he continued. He described the local pubs as “the heart of the community.”

He revealed his connection with the establishments, saying, “I grew up in pubs. I absolutely love pubs” (via GB News).
