Meghan Markle and Prince Harry drew massive attention during their first public outing together since their return to the UK. They visited Nottingham for charity engagements and were greeted warmly by well-wishers. Markle also shared her reaction upon meeting the people on her way to the Community Recording Studio (CRS).
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were spotted in Nottingham for first official outing
Nottingham is a significant place for Markle and Harry, as it’s where they first appeared publicly together following their engagement announcement in 2017. When they stepped out of the car, they were greeted by the crowd.
It took them 15 minutes to head inside the studio. After speaking with some of the people in the crowd, Markle was presented with a bouquet and helium balloons. Looking at the love and support around, she said, “It’s great to be back.”
A fan also came across to show her their 2017 Nottingham visit, which Markle found very special. As the couple greeted those around them, some fans also shouted, “I love you, Duchess Meghan.” Ahead of their visit, The Times reported on which locations the couple would stop by.
Their three stops were said to be Community Recording Studio, Himmah Food Bank, and Epic Partners. It also mentioned that these charity visits could set a pattern for the couple’s future public engagements in the UK.
Their outing comes over a month after their return to the UK from the US. Currently, the Sussexes live outside London in a non-royal base. They haven’t been offered taxpayer-funded security.
Buckingham Palace recently clarified that the couple are private individuals and that any of their charitable work is personal, not associated with the royal family. It was reported that the Sussexes took particular issue with the term “private citizens,” as they prefer to be referred to as public figures.
