A new Spider-Man 4 rumor teases a dead MCU character’s possible appearance. The report claims they will play a key role, reminding the title character why he is a hero.
Aunt May rumored to be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, possibly for a flashback
Marisa Tomei‘s Aunt May could appear in Spider-Man 4 in some capacity, according to a new rumor. This comes from notable scooper, MyTimetoShineHello. They wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that she “IS in Spider-Man Brand New Day.”
In a follow-up tweet, the insider shared a possible quote from her in the film. This suggested that she could appear in a flashback or a dream sequence, reminding Peter of his responsibility as Spider-Man, while acknowledging the frightening nature of his heroism.
It reads, “I know this whole thing can get really scary, but I want you to remember your responsibility. Never forget it, no matter how powerful you become.”
Needless to say, this is merely a rumor and doesn’t come from official sources. Accordingly, fans must wait until the film comes out to see if May makes an appearance in any form.
While she isn’t officially confirmed to show up in any capacity, it is known through the trailer that Peter will visit her grave at some point in the movie.
Aunt May last appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In it, she, MJ, Ned, and Happy Hogan dealt with the fallout of Peter’s secret identity being outed by Mysterio, who also framed him for his murder. Later, she convinced Peter to cure his enemies from alternate universes and helped him in the effort.
Unfortunately, Green Goblin jeopardized their efforts after Doc Ock was cured. He convinced the uncured villains to turn on Peter and May and escape. During this, Goblin mortally wounded May, who reminded Peter about the responsibility of his powers before succumbing to her injuries.
Peter later tried to avenge her death by attempting to kill Goblin, but was stopped by his older alternate universe counterpart, played by Tobey Maguire.
