Alexa Demie clarifies if she’s retiring after Euphoria Season 3 finale
Alexa Demie recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, ahead of the conclusion of Euphoria Season 3. The third season of the Sam Levinson series will also be its final installment. Rumors have suggested that Demie plans to retire from acting after the season concludes. However, Demie indicated that those claims are not accurate.
The rumor appears to stem from a recirculated clip from a 2020 episode of The A24 Podcast, in which Demie spoke with Nathan Fielder about challenges she faced early in her career. During the conversation, Demie discussed feeling that many desirable roles were being cast differently and questioned whether there was enough space for Latina actresses in Hollywood. She also recalled wondering whether she wanted to continue auditioning at the time.
According to Demie, the clip was later shared without its original context, leading to speculation that she planned to leave acting after Euphoria.
When asked about joking with fans who expressed disappointment over the possibility, Demie responded, “Should we just ride with it?”
She went on to discuss frustrations she experienced in her 20s. Recalling an experience in which she read a character description for a lead role that included a lengthy list of acceptable ethnicities but did not include Hispanic backgrounds, Demie said, “I was reading it, and it really hit me, and I kept having that experience.”
“I was sick of going into those rooms, and this was during that time when you’re young, and every few months you’re just like, ‘I’m quitting, I’m quitting.’ But knowing me, I never would have quit. I’m more of the energy of like, ‘No, I’m going to show you I can do it,’” she further added.
Demie‘s comments suggest that she is not planning to retire from acting following the conclusion of Euphoria. Instead, she indicated that her past comments reflected frustrations she experienced earlier in her career rather than plans to leave the industry.
