Donald Trump’s New Iran Comments Appear To Contradict Earlier War Claims

Arguably, for the first time since the US announced its attack on Iran, Donald Trump has made a remark regarding the Middle Eastern nation’s military that does not initiate further aggression. However, this has come as a surprise to many, considering the President’s previous comments about continuing the charge on Iran.

Donald Trump makes unexpected comment about US military and Iran war

During his May 31 appearance on his daughter-in-law Lara Trump’s show, the POTUS boldly stated that his administration has decided to leave Iran’s military intact.

“Their Navy is totally gone, 100%; their Air Force is totally gone, 100%,” Donald Trump said on My View, adding, “Their military, we’ve sort of left it alone, because we think that their military is somewhat moderate. They have other people that aren’t moderate. We’ve taken them out. We’ve taking different forms of leadership out.”

Trump continued, “We’ve actually left their military alone. People would be surprised to hear that. Because mistakes have been made in wars where you wipe out everybody, and then you have a country that for 40 years can never rebuild. You look at what happened with Iraq. We did so bad, that was such a foolish thing, what we did. We shouldn’t have been there in the first place, by the way.”

This has baffled many, as Trump has constantly emphasized the need to completely take out Iran, including its military, in his Truth Social posts. In a March update, he wrote, “We are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning.”

Later in the interview, Donald Trump also explained that even though they “shouldn’t have been in Iran,” it was a necessary step. He said, “Iran has the capability — if we didn’t hit them with the B-2 bombers nine months ago, they would have a nuclear weapon right now, and it would be a whole different story. [They] probably would’ve used it – you wouldn’t have had Israel. But you probably wouldn’t have had a Middle East.”
